Gaslamp's ShamRock Block Party

St. Patrick's Day at the Gaslamp Quarter Celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Gaslamp style. This is the ultimate block party. Some call it the liveliest street party west of the big Mississippi. It's amazing that everyone in San Diego claims to be Irish when March 17 rolls around. What they really mean is they know how to party like the Irish. Each St. Patrick's Day, the fun-lovers dig out their four-leaf clover luck and head to the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter. If you ain't green, plan on getting pinched. I guess some wouldn't complain about that. The more green you are, the more kisses you can expect. If you complain about that, you may as well stay home. From 4:00 PM to Midnight, it's time to get down and get lucky. Irish style. In the Gaslamp.

The Gaslamp turns its busy nightlife into a sea of green. Much of this 16-block area is closed to traffic as over 60,000 square feet of green
Astroturf is rolled onto the streets where party-goers roam the Irish Pubs, clubs and bars while rocking to the live music and entertainment at three stages. Cool Djs spin lively tunes. Hot go-go dancers strut their stuff and the establishments roll-out the green beer and Irish fare. Over 20,000 attend this rockin festival and if any do not have fun, it's because they didn't shake their shamrocks.

You have to be at 21 years-old to attend. This ain't a place for children. The main entrance is usually at 6th and G Street and sell-out crowds topping over 20,000 attend. So it's wise to get your tickets well before the festival. Parking can be a hassle, So come early for the best available parking or plan on parking a long way from the event. For convenience, consider taking the San Diego Trolley and you may not need a designated driver.
